Dr. Tia Konzer
Dr. Tia Konzer is an expert in helping children and teens deal with the stress of a chronic medical condition, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Her advanced training in how health intersects with emotional and behavioral problems enables her passion to improve the lives of young people in a holistic manner. Holding advanced degrees from Michigan State University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Konzer is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in pediatric/adolescent psychiatry, as well as adult (general) psychiatry. She treats patients through consultation and treatment at Konzer Psychiatric. Dr. Konzer also specializes in Sports Psychiatry. She cares for elite athletes at many levels, seeing individuals and various teams through her outpatient practice.
Kathy graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Family Studies and a minor in psychology. She worked as a Certified Child Life Specialist at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio for 15 years, with a major focus on pediatric oncology and children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. There, she was a recipient of the hospital’s Board of Trustees Excellence in Patient Care Award. She served on the board of the founding chapter of Flashes of Hope in Cleveland.For the past 12 years, her attention has been on raising her four children along with her husband, Chad, and volunteering in various roles at their schools. Her background and passion for the mission of The Sandbox enable her to play a variety of important roles for the organization.
