The Sandbox – and the children and teens we serve – rely on the support of youth in our community. Youth are an integral part of what we do. Each year, we have opportunities for teens to be matched with Honorees and become a “buddy” to walk alongside them throughout the year. Youth can also gain community service experience, including fundraising and event support. See below for all of the exciting opportunities available to high school students.
Applications are accepted each spring for the current year. This year’s Youth Mentor class has already been selected, but there’s still a way for you to get involved. Join our Go-Getter team!
Senior Youth Mentors
Senior Mentors have served as mentors with The Sandbox for more than two years. These students are committed to the mission of The Sandbox and its Honorees, and they have met fundraising goals. Senior Youth Mentors are selected through an application and interview process, and they are given training and support, with the responsibility of leading a team of Youth Mentors and Ambassadors.
Youth Mentors are selected through an application and interview process and placed on teams designed to support their designated Honoree(s). Youth Mentors work under their Senior Mentor captain and will also provide guidance to Youth Ambassadors. Youth Mentors must attend training and The Sandbox events.
Youth Ambassadors are selected through an application and interview process. They are a part of the team and charged with individual fundraising goals. Youth Ambassadors attend trainings and assist at key events.
Youth Event Team
Youth involved on the Event Support team are new to The Sandbox. They provide support for the Senior Youth Mentor’s team at key events throughout the year.
