THE NEW SANDBOX MENTOR PROGRAM
A listening ear.
A guiding voice.
A timely encouragement.
Mentors have always been an important part of The Sandbox. For ten years, we’ve facilitated the Youth Mentor Program, matching people with our kiddos to offer support and encouragement. And the program has served everyone well.
Recently, we “took the temperature” of our mentor program, and we realized families want the mentoring relationships to dive deeper and spread broader. To awaken the hope we all carry and so desperately need at this time.
With that in mind, we are enhancing the program so that we can meet the fellowship needs of our families in more ways than one. This new Sandbox Mentor Program will look a bit different but still aim to provide listening ears, guiding voices, and timely encouragement to those who need it. Mentor relationships may include a retired woman partnering with a Sandbox mom or an inspiring adult becoming a buddy to an older teen or even a professional befriending a working parent that might be struggling to balance all that life can throw at us.
This change is just one way our C.A.R.R.E. Program is evolving to meet the needs of our families.
Oprah Winfrey once said, “A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself.” We all need people. We all crave hope. And we all understand fellowship trumps loneliness, fear, and anxiety.
Our community, their needs, and their feedback have always been the driving force for our decisions. So we hope you’ll join this initiative, this new and improved Sandbox Mentor Program, which offers multiple opportunities for mentors to awaken the hope within!
